How Apprise makes money

Last updated: September 4, 2026.

The short version

Reader subscriptions are the business. Premium is $10 a month and that is where essentially all of our revenue comes from. We do not run display advertising, we have no ad-supported tier, we do not take sponsored placement in the news feed, and we do not sell your personal information. The one other way money can reach us is affiliate commission on some outbound shopping links, explained in full below.

Affiliate links

Some links that take you to an online shop may be automatically converted into affiliate links by a service called Skimlinks. If you click one and then buy something, the retailer pays us a small commission. You pay exactly the same price either way — the commission comes out of the retailer's margin, not your pocket.

Status: not currently active.

Affiliate link conversion is switched off right now: no outbound link on this site is being rewritten, and we are not earning commission on anything. This page is published in advance so the disclosure is already in place if that changes.

Which links are affected: only outbound links to retailers, and only ones the affiliate network already has a relationship with. Links between Apprise pages, links to news sources and citations, and links used as evidence in a story are never converted.

Where the wall is

No commercial arrangement — affiliate, sponsorship, or anything else — influences what we cover, how we cover it, which stories get a briefing, what the Truth-o-meter says, or where a story sits in your feed. Nobody selling anything sees a story before it publishes. We do not accept payment to include, exclude, or soften coverage, and we would report on a company whose affiliate programme we are in exactly as we would report on any other.

The practical safeguard is that affiliate rewriting is applied mechanically to outbound retail links after a story is written; there is no step at which a writer or editor chooses a link because it pays. If that ever changes — for example if we ran a paid review or a sponsored series — it would be labelled on the item itself, not only here.

What we don't do

  • No display advertising anywhere in the product, on any tier.
  • No sponsored or "native" stories in the news feed.
  • No paid placement in briefings, the Truth-o-meter, or search results.
  • No selling or sharing of personal information — see the privacy policy.
  • No third-party ad tracking or advertising identifiers.

AI disclosure

Separately from money: our video briefings are presented by AI-generated anchors, not by real people, and every briefing is labelled on screen while it plays. Summaries and the "why this matters to you" notes are AI-generated from Associated Press editorial content. We say so on every surface where it applies.

Questions

If something on the site looks like it was influenced by a commercial relationship, tell us and we will look into it and publish a correction if we got it wrong: hello@apprise.news. See also our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.
